Description: The address points layer is the result of a cumulative effort by the County of San Luis Obispo, CalFire, and several cities within the county. At first, points were placed using the County owned 2007, and the 2011 aerial photography. Then, at later stages, especially in the rural areas, CalFire utilized GPS devices to place points and field check the addresses. Generally speaking, the County placed the majority of the urban points while CalFire places rural points. Ground truthing is an ongoing effort but has been done for multi-family in all of the urban and a large portion of the rural areas. Address data was initially attributed by spatially joining to the assessor situs address fields. Zip code data was attributed spatially using the ESRI zip code feature class from 2010. Currently (2013), the maintenance of this featureclass is a team effort. County Planning and Building department is maintaining and assigning new address points to this featureclass as new development takes place and as errors are discovered and corrected. CalFire is continuing to ground truth. The participating Cities are delivering new address point data but are not on a regular schedule.
